Afropolitics of Displacement - Acrylics on Paper | Amsterdam, 2018

The series take an historical research on post-war Latin American Painters, Painting in the 1960’s, The Mexican Grupo Suma and the powerful influence those movements had on contemporary art in the Americas. In most of the works I use a combination of acrylic, oil, and vintage magazines, leading the viewer into a new place of visual afro poetics, researching on the physical qualities that abstraction manifest in editorial representations of Diasporic Black Atlantic cultures.
