Electric Dub Station Series - A monumental installation consisting of Ajrakh Block Printed Indigo Dye Textiles and Indigo Raffia Threads.

In the Electric Dub Station series, the artist investigates the connection with different cultures of the Black Atlantic (Paul Gilroy) and hybrid Migratory Aesthetics (Mieke Ball).

During the last fifteen years Guzman has focused on postcolonial artistic research linked to his own Panamanian ancestry, and to the origins of indigo in Latin America, Asia and West Africa. This project investigates the transatlantic colonial history of indigo, related to its production on plantations in India, Java, The Americas and in Europe.

The installation features soundscapes of plantations in Suriname and Alan Lomax recordings, mixed with Dub rhythms, Moroccan blue raffia and Indigo banners made in Gujarat, India with the indigo master Sufiyan Khatri.
